In-person appointments allow for more comprehensive assessments. Your dietitian can observe nonverbal cues, demonstrate portion sizes with physical models, review food labels together, and create a stronger therapeutic relationship that supports accountability and long-term success.

Individuals from River Oaks, Westover Hills, White Settlement, and surrounding communities appreciate the convenience of this central location, with easy access from major highways and ample parking in the building.

For clients who prefer virtual care or live outside the area, we also offer telehealth appointments across Texas and several other states, ensuring continuity of care regardless of your schedule or location.

Insurance Coverage for Nutrition Counseling

While coverage can vary by plan or diagnosis, most major insurance plans can cover nutrition counseling as a preventive service, which means you may qualify for appointments at little to no out-of-pocket cost. Doherty Nutrition accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, and many other providers.

Our team handles insurance verification before your first appointment, so you’ll know exactly what to expect regarding coverage and costs. This removes financial uncertainty and makes accessing professional nutrition care straightforward and stress-free.

FAQs About Nutrition Counseling in Fort Worth

Good news! Many insurance plans cover nutrition counseling as a preventative or medical service, so you may be responsible for $0 or very little out of pocket. We’re in-network with most major providers, and every plan is different, so we encourage you to verify your insurance benefits to understand your coverage.

We believe nutrition counseling should be practical, personalized, and fun! We provide evidence-based care while teaching you how to use food as medicine—without extreme diets or unrealistic restrictions. Our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists are trained in the philosophies of intuitive eating, Health at Every Size, and weight-inclusive care. This means we meet you where you are and help you develop lasting strategies that work for your unique needs.

All of our dietitians are Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs), meaning that they hold national certification, can provide medical nutrition therapy, and are experts in navigating complex medical conditions and nutrition needs. Many of our team members also hold specialized credentials in areas like diabetes care or oncology. Our full team is trained in intuitive eating philosophies and weight-inclusive care.

You don’t need a referral from your PCP or any other medical professional to receive nutrition counseling. While some insurance plans (specifically HMOs) might require a referral for coverage, you don’t need one for the appointment itself.

Your first appointment typically lasts 55-85 minutes and gives us a chance to get to know you and your unique needs. You’ll discuss your medical history, current meal patterns, and any specific challenges. Your dietitian will help educate you and set specific, personalized goals.

If you’re local to one of our offices in Texas or Illinois, you can do either! You’re welcome to do a mix of telehealth and in-person sessions to keep things convenient for your personal schedule.

It varies! Your dietitian will provide recommendations and work with you to establish personalized goals, but the decision is ultimately up to you and what works best for your schedule.

Yes, we do have bilingual dietitians in Fort Worth! You can meet our bilingual dietitians here under the “Specialties” filter.

No problem! Tell us more about you, your goals, and where you’re located, and we can walk through your options. You can also meet our full team of dietitians and learn about their specialties if you’d like to book directly online.

To get started, you can fill out our request counseling form so we can get to know you and match you with the right dietitian. If you already know who you’d like to work with, you can also book directly online.
