Meet Your Plant-Based Nutrition Experts

Eating more plants doesn’t have to mean grocery store guesswork, bland flavor, or feeling left out at mealtimes. Our passionate team of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists specializes in plant-based nutrition and makes plant-based eating simple, joyful, and achievable for every client. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, flexitarian, or simply plant-curious, we meet you where you are and celebrate your goals.

We break it down into easy, step-by-step plans. You’ll never have to wonder about what to buy, what to cook, or how to make it practical with your everyday routine. Even if you’re new and don’t know where to start, you’ll get realistic support to build confidence and ensure that you get all the nutrients you need from day one.

Is a Plant-Based Lifestyle Right for You?

There’s no single reason people explore a plant-centric lifestyle, and that’s exactly why it works for so many. Plant-based does not have to mean vegetarian or vegan. It’s simply a starting point — choosing to prioritize food that comes from plants.

Whether you’re motivated by health, ethics, or curiosity, our plant-based nutrition experts want to help you achieve your unique goals. For some, plant-forward eating is a way to support sustainability. For others, it’s deeply connected to animal welfare, environmental impact, or a desire to make eating simpler and more inclusive of diverse cultural traditions.

We work with a wide variety of plant-based eaters, including those who are:

Managing or aiming to reverse heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, kidney disease, or other chronic issues through nutrition.

Wanting to reduce animal products, but not fully vegan or vegetarian.

Seeking help with your transition so you get enough B12, iron, protein, and other essential nutrients.

Creating plant-based meal plans that supply high-quality protein, adequate iron, and optimal nutrient timing so you can train hard, recover well, and support your performance goals.

Turning to plant-based eating for sustainable weight loss, gain, or maintenance.

Managing digestive health conditions through fiber-rich, plant-based dietary approaches that alleviate symptoms, including food elimination, identifying trigger foods, and finding delicious dairy-free options.

Receiving nutritional support during pregnancy or incorporating plant-based options into your kids’ diet by focusing on critical nutrients like folate, iron, calcium, and DHA, all from plant-based sources, to support both your health and your children’s development.

Practicing intuitive eating within the context of a plant-based meal pattern, helping you reconnect with your body’s hunger cues and enjoy a variety of plant-based foods in a balanced, mindful way.

Your Dietitian's Approach to a Thriving Plant-Based Lifestyle

Shifting to a plant-based lifestyle should feel empowering, not confusing. Here’s how Doherty Nutrition helps you build a diet that fulfills both your personal values and meets your daily energy and nutrient needs.

Planning for Your Unique Journey

There’s no one-size-fits-all program. Your Registered Dietitian will talk with you about your goals, preferences, and any health concerns, including how a plant-based eating pattern can support your needs. Whether you aim to be fully vegan or want to add more plant-forward meals as a flexitarian, our team will create a realistic, sustainable framework that suits your lifestyle and taste buds.

Nutrients of Consideration

The first thing many clients wonder as they embark on their plant-based journey is whether they will get all the nutrients they need. Our answer is yes — with the right plan in place. We review your unique needs and help you find plant-based sources of every essential nutrient, including:

  • Complete protein: Learn about complementary proteins like rice and beans, or complete proteins like quinoa and tofu, for all the amino acids your body needs for muscle and tissue repair.

  • Iron: Discover how to pair iron-rich foods, like lentils and spinach, with vitamin C from bell peppers and citrus to boost absorption, so you stay energized and strong.

  • Vitamin B12: Since B12 isn’t found in plants, we discuss the best fortified foods or supplements to keep you energized.

You will also receive guidance on calcium, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, iodine, and more.
